Moving to Boise? A Local’s Guide to Choosing Your Treasure Valley Community
Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Nampa or somewhere in between? A Boise native breaks down how each Treasure Valley community lives day to day.
Ada County
Parks, great amenities and new neighborhoods right in the middle of the valley.
Meridian is one of Idaho’s largest and fastest-growing cities, and it’s easy to see why. Sitting between Boise and Nampa along I-84, it puts you minutes from almost everything in the valley while offering newer homes, family-friendly parks and a lively mix of shopping and dining.
From the restored storefronts of downtown Meridian to master-planned communities with pools and pathways, Meridian offers a wide range of homes and price points, including a deep inventory of new construction, which is one of Patrice’s specialties.
Meridian’s neighborhoods are known for wide streets, walking paths and community amenities like pools, clubhouses and pocket parks. North Meridian offers easy access to Eagle and Boise, while south Meridian has been home to much of the valley’s recent new construction.
Downtown Meridian keeps a small-town feel with local restaurants, City Hall plaza events and summer concerts, while the Village at Meridian is a regional hub for shopping, dining and entertainment.
If you’re considering a new build, bring your own agent on your very first visit to a model home. Many builders require it in order for you to have representation. As a New Home Construction Certified agent who grew up on her father’s job sites, Patrice helps clients compare builders, evaluate lot premiums and upgrades, negotiate incentives and keep an eye on quality through each inspection.
Meridian is served primarily by the West Ada School District, Idaho’s largest district, with some areas in the Kuna or Nampa districts. School boundaries change as the valley grows, so always confirm assignments for a specific address with the district.
Yes. Meridian has many active new-construction communities, particularly in the south and north parts of the city. Patrice can help you compare builders, incentives and lots.
Most Meridian neighborhoods are roughly a 15–30 minute drive to downtown Boise depending on location and time of day, with I-84, Chinden and Fairview as the main routes.
